Indonesia treats these medications differently. Of the 7 we track, 2 are not allowed in at all, 4 come in on paperwork with a supply cap and 1 has no published rule we could find.
Serious penalties: Narcotics offences are among the most serious criminal offences in Indonesia (Law 35/2009), and the amphetamines, including dexamfetamine and Adderall, are narcotics here. Methylphenidate is a Golongan II psychotropic and is admitted on an English prescription up to 60 days, for foreign nationals only.

Lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse) is not named in Indonesia's law (Health Minister Regulation 15/2025, narcotics Classes I to III, pages 5 to 19, and Regulation 14/2025, psychotropics Classes I to IV, pages 5 to 8), so no rule for it is published. Ask the authority listed here before you travel.

Psikotropika Golongan II, not a narcotic. PMK 5/2023 names METILFENIDAT in the Keterangan column of DAFTAR PSIKOTROPIKA GOLONGAN II, and Permenkes 14/2025 (in force 28 Nov 2025) lists it as a Golongan II psychotropic, item 2, page 5; the narcotics schedule, Permenkes 15/2025, does not mention it. BPOM admits Golongan II, III and IV psychotropics for treatment on an English prescription, up to 60 days.

Atomoxetine, guanfacine and viloxazine are ordinary prescription medicines in Indonesia, not narcotics or psychotropics. You may bring them in your own baggage for personal use without a permit. Indonesia's food and drug agency (BPOM) allows up to 30 tablets or capsules of each product, or more with a doctor's prescription from your home country, up to 90 days' treatment. BPOM asks for the prescription to be in English. Declare the medicine on your customs declaration and be ready to show the prescription.

Narcotic (opioids)
Banned- Quantity
- No quantity is permitted. BPOM: narcotic medicines are not allowed to be imported from abroad, in passenger baggage or by courier.
- Permit
- No route exists for a traveller. The amphetamines, including dexamfetamine and mixed amphetamine salts, are Golongan I narcotics in Indonesia and fall under this prohibition.
Psychotropic (ADHD stimulants, benzodiazepines, sleep)
Restricted- Quantity
- 60 days. BPOM: psychotropic medicines (Golongan II, III and IV, which is where methylphenidate sits) may be carried in personal baggage only, never posted, with a doctor's prescription written in English, up to a 60-day supply. The SAS page adds that this route is open to foreign nationals only.
- Permit
- Not required. BPOM: importing personal medicines does not require a permit from the Indonesian authorities. Declare on the electronic customs declaration and show the English prescription if asked.

Connecting through Indonesia
- Staying airside, never clearing immigration:
- no official guidance found, so assume the full entry rules apply. Indonesia publishes nothing on transit and has filed no traveller rules with the INCB. Given that narcotics offences carry capital penalties here, do not read the silence as permission.
- Clearing immigration for a layover:
- the full entry rules apply. Clearing immigration means entering Indonesian territory, where the full rules apply.
- Changing airports:
- the full entry rules apply. An airport change needs full clearance into Indonesia.
- Overnight layover, leaving the airport:
- the full entry rules apply. Leaving the airport means clearing immigration and customs.
- Checked bag travelling without you:
- not allowed at all, whatever paperwork you hold. Psychotropic medicines may be carried in your own baggage but may never be sent by post or courier. Having medication mailed to you is itself an offence.
