MozambiqueTravelling with ADHD medication: rules, permits and documents

Africa

Last checked 20 Jul 2026Low confidence: check with the embassyHow we rate a record

Mozambique treats these medications differently. Of the 7 we track, 4 have no published rule we could find and 3 need only your prescription.

Serious penalties: Mozambique's national drug law (Lei n.º 3/97 de 13 de Março, Boletim da República n.º 11, Série I) criminalises trafficking and unlawful possession of estupefacientes e substâncias psicotrópicas; no traveller carve-out is published, and the law's penalty text could not be read today (only a non-extractable scanned mirror and a paywalled citation were found) — the prior dataset's 'Lei nº 17/2009, 5-15 years' citation could not be verified and appears to be incorrect.

We could not find strong recent official guidance for this country. Contact the embassy or consulate directly before you travel.
