A limit of our data: Adderall (mixed amphetamine salts) and Dexamphetamine are different medicines. Adderall is a mix of dextroamphetamine and levoamphetamine; dexamfetamine is dextroamphetamine on its own, and international drug schedules list them as separate substances. We hold one combined amphetamine rule per country, so this page cannot tell you whether Switzerland treats them differently. Give the authority the exact product and generic name on your prescription when you check. The answer here is the same as for Dexamphetamine in Switzerland.
The rules for Adderall (mixed amphetamine salts)
Swissmedic's guidance for travellers from non-Schengen ('other') countries states a medical certificate is 'recommended', not a mandatory permit, alongside a standard prescription; the 30-day quantity cap applies with no formal import licence. The prior permit-style status reflected the Schengen-certificate regime, which applies only to residents of Schengen states re-entering under Article 75, not to Australian visitors. Swissmedic (the competent narcotics authority) requires a valid prescription and caps the quantity you may import at a 30-day treatment supply. If arriving from a Schengen country you should carry a Swissmedic 'Schengen' certificate (based on Article 75 of the Schengen Implementing Convention), completed by your prescribing doctor/pharmacy before travel and valid up to 3 months; if arriving from outside Schengen an equivalent 'other countries' doctor-certified form is recommended. No customs declaration is otherwise required (green channel).
Maximum supply: 30 days (30-day supply cap (Swissmedic); medical certificate recommended, not mandatory, for non-Schengen travellers)
What to do
- valid prescription
- Schengen certificate (Schengen Agreement applicable). This is issued by your own country of residence and only covers travel between Schengen countries, so if you are flying in from Australia you cannot get one and do not need it.
