Can I take Concerta to Hong Kong SAR?

Hong Kong SAR's official guidance indicates you need advance approval (a permit) before arriving with Concerta. Review the requirements and apply in good time.

The rules for Concerta (methylphenidate (extended release))

Verified against the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance (Cap. 134) First Schedule, Part I, read directly on Hong Kong e-Legislation on 2026-08-01. Paragraph 1(a) lists "Methyl phenidate" (spelt as two words in the ordinance), so it is a dangerous drug. The Drug Office states that any visitor, including a visitor to Hong Kong for transit, who brings in medicine containing dangerous drugs for personal use must obtain prior written approval from the Drug Office, supported by a certification letter from the prescribing doctor. Processing normally takes 10 working days. Contact pharmgeneral@dh.gov.hk or +852 2572 2068.
