Every medication we track can come into Hungary on your prescription, up to 90 days' supply, carried in original packaging.

Serious penalties: Substances on the K1 '*' list (Decree 78/2022) are prohibited even if permitted in the country of departure. Verify rare controlled substances.

Travellers must carry the applicable documentation (valid prescription, doctor's certificate and/or destination certificate depending on the departure country) and present it at customs/police checks; submission to the Hungarian authority is not required for entry.

Narcotic (opioids)

Prescription

Quantity: 90 days. Up to 90 days; documentation tier depends on duration (GP certificate short stay; competent-authority certificate longer)
Permit: Not required. No permit at entry; a GP or competent-authority certificate by duration.
Documents: prescription, medical certificate

Psychotropic (ADHD stimulants, benzodiazepines, sleep)

Prescription

Quantity: 90 days. Maximum quantity sufficient for 90 days
Permit: Not required. OGYÉI states that the certificates are presented at the customs and police check and that submission to its Department is not required, and that the Department attests certificates only for travellers originating from Hungary. Under 30 days a GP certificate; 30 to 90 days a certificate from the competent authority of your own country.

Not internationally controlled

Prescription

Atomoxetine, guanfacine ER and viloxazine are not internationally scheduled; bring with prescription in original packaging. No specific Hungary ban found.
