Can I take Adderall to Peru?

Official guidance indicates Peru restricts how much Adderall you can bring and the paperwork required. Check the limits before you travel.

Restricted: limits on quantity and paperwork

A limit of our data: Adderall (mixed amphetamine salts) and Dexamphetamine are different medicines. Adderall is a mix of dextroamphetamine and levoamphetamine; dexamfetamine is dextroamphetamine on its own, and international drug schedules list them as separate substances. We hold one combined amphetamine rule per country, so this page cannot tell you whether Peru treats them differently. Give the authority the exact product and generic name on your prescription when you check. The answer here is the same as for Dexamphetamine in Peru.

The rules for Adderall (mixed amphetamine salts)

Travellers must carry a valid medical prescription AND a doctor's certificate endorsed by the health authority of their home country, and must present the original prescription at Peruvian customs; the permitted amount is 'according to medical prescription' with no separate day-limit like the 5-day cap set for narcotics. Peru's DIGEMID controlled-substance schedule (Lista III A) explicitly names 'Dexanfetamina' (dextroamphetamine, as in Dexedrine) as a controlled but non-prohibited substance; plain racemic amphetamine (the other component of Adderall) is not named separately in any list but is treated as the same class of Schedule II psychotropic.

What to do

  1. valid prescription
  2. doctor's certificate endorsed by the health authorities of the country of residence
  3. presentation of original prescription at customs
