The rules for Concerta (methylphenidate (extended release))
Sweden requires a valid prescription or proof of personal medical use, with a supply cap of 5, 21 or 90 days depending on the Swedish narcotics schedule (LVFS 2011:10). Tullverket explicitly names methylphenidate-type ADHD medicines as narcotic-classified in Sweden. Residents of other Schengen countries may bring up to 30 days' supply with a Schengen certificate, for substances listed in appendix 2 of Ordinance (1992:1554).
What to do
- valid prescription
- proof of medicinal purpose and personal use (e.g. doctor's certificate, pharmaceutical label with patient and doctor name)
- Schengen certificate (for EU/Schengen residents carrying appendix-2 substances). This is issued by your own country of residence and only covers travel between Schengen countries, so if you are flying in from Australia you cannot get one and do not need it.
