Can I take Ritalin to Sweden?
Official guidance indicates Sweden restricts how much Ritalin (methylphenidate) you can bring and the paperwork required. Check the limits before you travel.

The rules for Ritalin (methylphenidate)
Carry a valid prescription or other proof the medicine is for your own medical use (for example a pharmacy label with patient and doctor's name). Methylphenidate is on Sweden's narcotics list II, so arriving from outside Schengen you may bring at most 5 days' use per entry (LVFS 2011:9 s 10). For more, apply in advance to Läkemedelsverket for an exception (Narcotics Control Ordinance 1992:1554 s 5). Entering from another Schengen state, up to 30 days in proportion to the trip is allowed (s 5 a), but methylphenidate then needs an Article 75 certificate from your home country, which Australia does not issue.
Maximum supply: 5 days (5 days' use per entry from outside Schengen (LVFS 2011:9 s 10); more only with an exception from Läkemedelsverket applied for in advance.)
What to do
- valid prescription
- proof of medicinal purpose and personal use (e.g. doctor's certificate, pharmaceutical label with patient and doctor name)
- Schengen certificate (for EU/Schengen residents carrying appendix-2 substances). This is issued by your own country of residence and only covers travel between Schengen countries, so if you are flying in from Australia you cannot get one and do not need it.
