Can I take Dexamphetamine to Vanuatu?

Official guidance indicates Dexamphetamine can usually be brought into Vanuatu with a valid prescription and the right documents. Confirm the current requirements before you travel.

The rules for Dexamphetamine (dexamfetamine)

Vanuatu's Dangerous Drugs Act [CAP 12] prohibits the importation, sale, supply or possession of the substances listed in section 2, and Amphetamine and Dexamphetamine are both on that list. Section 3 then exempts a preparation carried into Vanuatu for personal use where it is of a reasonable amount, accompanied by a letter from the medical practitioner in the person's country of origin, and appropriately labelled with its correct name. The exemption works on its own: no permit, application or approval is described for a traveller. The separate import certificate the Minister responsible for health may issue under section 7 is for a registered medical practitioner or pharmacist importing stock, not for a passenger's own supply. Vanuatu Customs requires prohibited or restricted goods such as medicines to be declared on arrival. The Act is old, in force since 1939 and last varied in 2005, and no numeric quantity is published anywhere for personal medicine. The Ministry of Health Principal Pharmacist unit (+678 22512, +678 33081, Iatika Complex, PMB 9009, Port Vila) is the authority to ask.
