Can I take Ritalin to Vanuatu?

The rules for Ritalin (methylphenidate)

Methylphenidate is named in section 2 of Vanuatu's Dangerous Drugs Act [CAP 12], which prohibits importation, sale, supply or possession of the listed substances. Section 3 exempts a preparation carried into Vanuatu for personal use where it is of a reasonable amount, accompanied by a letter from the medical practitioner in the person's country of origin, and appropriately labelled with its correct name. That exemption works on its own, with no permit, application or approval step for a traveller; the import certificate under section 7 is a separate route for a registered medical practitioner or pharmacist importing stock. Vanuatu Customs requires prohibited or restricted goods such as medicines to be declared on arrival. No numeric quantity is published for personal medicine, and the Act itself dates from 1939 and was last varied in 2005. The Ministry of Health Principal Pharmacist unit (+678 22512, +678 33081, Iatika Complex, PMB 9009, Port Vila) is the authority to ask.
