Can I take Ritalin to Mexico?

The rules for Ritalin (methylphenidate)
Mexico lists methylphenidate as an estupefaciente (narcotic) under the Ley General de Salud (art 234, page 111). The traveller rule is the same for narcotics and psychotropics: show customs the prescription or a home-country permit (RIS art 55). The narcotic listing brings the barcoded special prescription requirement for personal-use import permits (RIS art 196(IV)); it does not apply to a visitor's own carried supply. Carry the prescription and original packaging.
