Can I take Ritalin to Thailand?

Official guidance indicates Ritalin can usually be brought into Thailand with a valid prescription and the right documents. Confirm the current requirements before you travel.

The rules for Ritalin (methylphenidate)

Psychotropic Category 2. No permit required; up to 30 days' supply with a physician's certificate/prescription presented at customs.

Maximum supply: 30 days (Up to 30 days without permit (Category 2 psychotropic, prescription only))

What to do

  1. valid prescription
  2. doctor's certificate
  3. presentation of original prescription at customs
  4. Thai FDA import permit: apply online on Form IC-1 at least 15 days before you arrive and you are issued Form IC-2, which you carry. Needed for lisdexamfetamine at any quantity, and for methylphenidate only if you carry more than 30 days' supply.
