Can I take Ritalin to Mauritius?

The rules for Ritalin (methylphenidate)

Methylphenidate is on the Second Schedule to the Dangerous Drugs Act 2000, the controlled but licensable tier that also carries morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, methadone, buprenorphine, pethidine and codeine. It is not on the First Schedule, which is the Act's outright prohibition list and which does cover dexamfetamine and amphetamine. Mauritius Revenue Authority customs guidance says prescribed medicine may be brought in accompanied luggage or by post, with the prescription from the doctor setting out what the medication is, the medical condition it is for and the quantity required for the duration of the stay, with everything kept in its original packaging, and that clearance from the government pharmacist at the Ministry of Health and Wellness is needed before the medicine is released. No application form, fee or processing time for that clearance is published anywhere that could be found, including the Ministry of Health website and the Pharmacy Council's downloads page. There is no form to fill in, so the clearance is arranged by writing to the authority: the Government Pharmacist, Ministry of Health and Wellness, reachable through the Pharmacy Board on +230 490 4200. The licence issued by the Permanent Secretary under section 8 of the Act governs cultivation, manufacture, wholesale and retail trade and is not a traveller's route.
